Vandal Bricks v1.1

This is the third Unity game I've created for a Udemy course I'm taking to get some practice coding. It's super simple -- the player needs to break all the blocks on a screen to proceed (except for orange blocks, which are unbreakable).

Additional Time Spent: ~2 hours

Added Lives!

Things I would update to improve from here:

  • Better pacing -
    • Improved deaths (BUSTED text alert, with police sirens and a visual effect, to indicate that you were caught painting illegally)
    • Win Screen featuring full color art, as if by painting all the bricks in the game you have uncovered the art work
    • Possibly progression mid-level -- as you remove all bricks of certain color, you slowly fill the background with paint
  • Improved Game Over Screen, maybe showing a squad car, jail cell or an escaping artist running from the law
  • New music per level
  • Additional Sound Effects 
    • Celebratory fanfare, brick destruction noise

Time spent building this project is probably 10-14 hours. 

If I wanted to improve this game, I might add:

  • Scoring System
  • Life system
  • Ability to apply different paints to your paint cloud. Right now, the cloud changes color randomly when you hit it, but the original idea was to either use different paint colors to break different bricks, or to use different colors to power up the ball in a variety of ways. 
  • Additional Levels
  • New Mechanics
    • Moving Bricks
    • Stealth (since you're a vandal)
  • Improved ball control
  • More satisfying level endings
